Time & Location
About the Event
Black Dragon Wash is named after the large panels of very unique Native American pictographs in the heart of the canyon, one of which contains the "Black Dragon". There are some rocky patches, sand, and a few ledges on the route. Advanced riders will enjoy the seemingly endless acres of steep slickrock near the mouth of the canyon. All tours will visit view the awesome rock art and travel some portion of the canyon. Our guides will point out the hidden trail to the huge Black Dragon Cave so that guests can return explore it on their own. TRAIL TIME 2.5 hours
The trailhead is very easy to miss because there is no sign or freeway exit leading to it. The pull off is located on I-70 at mile marker 147. A GPS location will be given upon booking. West bound drivers will pull off to the right immediately after the 147 mile marker sign. To access from east the bound lanes, continue to exit 149 and return on the west bound lanes to mile 147. After pulling off the freeway, drive through the gate (and close it behind you) to find the check-in station. All groups will meet at the trailhead at 5:00 pm for registration and orientation.
We have BLM and Forest Service permits for the area and we are fully insured. THIS IS A BRING YOUR OWN BIKE TOUR, WE DO NOT RENT BIKES OR EQUIPEMENT. RIDERS ARE FREQUENTLY CHECKED FOR PROPER REGISTRATION SO PLEASE CHECK YOUR TAGS BEFORE YOUR TOUR.
